Scott J. Koplik concentrates his practice in the areas of medical malpractice, personal injury and debtor/creditor rights.

Mr. Koplik represents plaintiffs on a variety of medical malpractice matters, including LASIK and obstetrical malpractice. Additionally, Mr. Koplik represents the plaintiffs in the In re Cablevision Consumer Litigation, a class action in which Mr. Krouner serves as co-lead and liaison counsel, against Cablevision Systems Corp. for its failure to provide Fox Television programming from October 16 through October 30, 2010.

Mr. Koplik is also assisting Mr. Krouner in the LASIK malpractice case in Minnesota, Linegar v. Mark Lobanoff, M.D., in which it is alleged that the defendants committed LASIK surgery malpractice, causing patient to require cornea transplant. The complaint also alleges consumer fraud based on defendant advertising that it is “preferred LASIK provider to the Minnesota Vikings.”

Prior Experience
Prior to joining the Law Office of Todd J. Krouner, Mr. Koplik was an associate in the bankruptcy and debtor/creditor group of Trenk, DiPasquale, Webster, Della Fera & Sodono, P.C., in Newark, Red Bank and West Orange, New Jersey. During that time, Mr. Koplik represented numerous clients affected by the recent financial crisis and real estate market collapse. Mr. Koplik represented Connolly Properties, Inc., a major real estate owner, in its corporate restructuring, including successful Chapter 11 reorganization and sales of more than ten apartment complexes throughout New Jersey and Pennsylvania. In 2009, Mr. Koplik represented Patsy Catanzareti, an individual developer, against a residential builder, who attempted to misappropriate a condemnation award. In that case, the trial court awarded approximately $7.8 million to Mr. Catanzareti, which was affirmed by the Third Circuit Court of Appeals.

In addition to his civil experience, Mr. Koplik served for three years as an Assistant Municipal Prosecutor in the Township of West Orange, New Jersey. Mr. Koplik has also represented public and governmental entities. In 2008, Mr. Koplik successfully petitioned the Supreme Court of New Jersey on behalf of the Township, for reversal of a published appellate decision awarding counsel fees incurred by a property owner defending condemnation. Mr. Koplik successfully defended the constitutionality of a municipal ordinance regarding police regulations before the trial court and Appellate Division.

During law school, Mr. Koplik served as production editor of the Women’s Rights Law Reporter, a quarterly journal of legal scholarship and feminist criticism founded in 1970 by Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

In college, Mr. Koplik was a three-time academic all-conference pitcher for the Vassar College Brewers’ baseball team, where he still ranks in the Top-10 in numerous statistical categories, including: Most wins, starts, strikeouts, strikeouts per nine innings, innings pitched, pickoffs and fewest walks per nine innings. After college, Mr. Koplik continued his baseball career in Germany, where he was player/coach of the Erbach Grasshoppers of the Deutscher Baseball Verband, a German baseball league affiliated with Major League Baseball.
